PERFORMANCE REVIEWS

Talking to your employees

Picture
BSC has been assisting many successful organisations with Employee surveys and performance reviews since 2002. The goal of a good employee survey and/or performance review should be to:
  1. Come from the point of view of an UNBIASED THIRD-PARTY.
  2. Keep all employees ANONYMOUS so that they are not afraid of being targeted by HR or management if they voice a negative comment.
  3. Give ALL EMPLOYEES the opportunity to respond so that no one feels left out. This means sending e-surveys (with regular reminders) to employees with PCs as well as giving printed questionnaires to employees without PCs (like cleaning staff).
  4. Make the survey EASY to complete.
  5. Get results per REGION, per DEPARTMENT and per MANAGER - this helps you to pinpoint areas that need immediate attention.
  6. Give employees FEEDBACK about the outcome of the project.
  7. SHARE the final report with managers, from a third-party perspective, to enable action.
  8. Conduct ANOTHER SURVEY after six months or one year to measure the success of improvements.

Where to start
  • As a company representative your first step should be to create a complete employee database with details about each employee's email address, department, manager, job title, race, gender, occupational level, disability status etc.
  • Once you have your complete database, you need to appoint a survey company who is not part of your group of companies.
  • The first meeting with the company should help you to get a better idea of the project phases.
  • A workshop will be facilitated at your offices to assist your team in creating an employee survey / performance review questionnaire. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
  • Next, your HR manager or CEO will be requested to notify all employees of the upcoming project.
  • The survey will launch by consulting with employees via email and printed questionnaire.
  • During the project, progress reports will be readily available.
  • At the end of the project, a final report and presentation will be created and presented to your team, to executive management and teams of employees, if necessary.
  • BSC will assist you to create action plans that need to be implemented by HR or senior management to address each 'area for improvement'.
  • We will stay in regular contact with you in the months after the project to assist with any questions about the responses of the employee survey.

Please feel free to contact BSC to set a date and time for a meeting at your offices.  Your initial meeting will include more details about the project phases, deliverable and the way forward.
